Gate Invitational: Gross overcomes younger field
PONTE VEDRA BEACH, Fla. (Dec. 17, 2007)-- Most of the strong collegiate field at the Gate Invitational could hit the ball far longer than 44-year-old Tom Gross, but the Charles Schwab consultant made his mark on the part of the course where strength doesn't matter, the greens.
Gross finished with four-straight one-putts, including a 15-foot birdie putt that propelled him past North Florida freshman Major Forbess in the first playoff hole.
Each golfer finished at 1-under-par 213.
