Adela Cernousek and Texas A&M take the lead at the NCAA Women's Championships

Adela Cernousek and Texas A&M lead the NCAA Division I women's championships at the La Costa Resort and Spa Champions Course in Carlsbad, Calif., after 36 holes of stroke play.

Cernousek shot consecutive rounds of 4-under 68 to get to 8-under and lead the field by four shots. She birdied holes No. 8, 13, 14, 16, and 17 to shoot 33 on the back nine. Through 36 holes, she has recorded eleven birdies and three bogeys. 

Cernousek is currently ranked No. 45 in the Golfweek/AmateurGolf.com Women's Rankings. She has put together an impressive season, finishing in solo second place at the 2023 Stephens Cup, finishing T6 at the SEC Women's Championships, and T3 at the NCAA Women's South Regional

Annabelle Pancake of Clemson is in solo second place at 6-under, and first-round leader and 2024 ANWA champion Lottie Woad of Florida State is in solo third place at 5-under.

Maria Jose Marin of Arkansas, Julia Lopez Ramirez of Mississippi State, and Casey Weidenfeld of Auburn are T4 at 4-under. Seven golfers are T7 at 3-under, 37 golfers are even par or better through 36 holes.

World No. 1 Ingrid Lindblad of LSU is 10-over and T119 after a second-round 9-over 81. She made a triple bogey on the par-5 No. 10 to start her round and recorded no birdies in the round. 

In the team competition, Texas A&M is 11-under and leads by five shots over Stanford, who is in solo second place at 6-under. First-round leader Clemson struggled in the second round, shooting 5-over and falling to solo third place at 3-under. 

UCLA is in solo fourth place at 2-under, and Auburn and LSU are T5, rounding out the top five. 

All 30 teams will compete in the first three rounds, Friday through Sunday, in a 54-hole stroke play tournament.

The field will be cut to 15 teams for Monday's fourth and final round of stroke play. The top eight teams will move on to match play, with the quarterfinals and semifinals on Tuesday and the national championship match on Wednesday.

30 teams and 6 individuals not on a qualifying team make up the field for the championship of NCAA Division I women's golf.

After 72 holes of stroke play, the individual champion is crowned, and the low 8 teams advance to match play to determine the team champion.
