UNCG goes wire-to-wire to win Dorado Beach Classic

The UNCG men's golf team finished 29-under to win the 2025 Dorado Beach Collegiate at TPC Dorado Beach in Dorado, Puerto Rico, by eight shots.
The winning squad carded rounds of 273-279-283 to secure the wire-to-wire win.
According to UNCG athletics, this win marks the team's third first-place finish this season. UNCG also finished first at the Bryan National Collegiate and the Elon Invitational.
Southern Miss finished in solo second place at 21-under, and Illinois State finished in solo third place at 20-under. UConn finished in solo fourth place at 14-under, and Loyola (Md) and Wofford finished T5 at 13-under to round out the top five.
In the individual competition, Jeff Nelson of Winthrop finished 11-under to win by two shots. He carded rounds of 65-71-69 to secure the wire-to-wire win, the same as UNCG in the team competition.
He recorded three top-15 finishes in 2024.
Ryan Dupuy of Southern Miss and Alex Heard of UConn finished T2 at 9-under, two shots back of Nelson.
Colin Dutton of UNCG, Jack Marcotte of UNCG, Vaclav Tichy of James Madison, and Matthew Javier of Southern Miss all finished T4 at 8-under to round out the top five. 14 golfers finished within six shots of Nelson.
