Rocco Salvitti of Oakmont Country Club is the 2025 Pennsylvania Amateur Champion after an outstanding three-day performance at Huntsville Golf Club. The Notre Dame sophomore carded rounds of 63-66-70 for a tournament total of 17-under 199, winning by five shots to capture his first state amateur title.
Salvitti’s consistency throughout the week separated him from a talented field. He set the tone with an opening 63 on Monday, followed by a bogey-free 66 in Round 2, and sealed the championship with a composed 70 on Wednesday. The 20-year-old from Canonsburg, Pennsylvania, was steady under pressure, closing with birdies on two of his final four holes to stretch his lead and secure the victory.
A rising star in collegiate golf, Salvitti is a sophomore standout for the Notre Dame Fighting Irish. He appeared in all 12 tournaments this season, posting a 71.3 stroke average and a best finish of third at the Fighting Irish Classic. As a freshman, he contributed to Notre Dame’s historic run to their first NCAA National Championship since 1989, finishing T9 at the NCAA Austin Regional. A decorated junior player, Salvitti won the 2022 WPIAL Individual Championship and was a four-time PIAA All-State selection.
With this win, Salvitti joins a storied list of Pennsylvania Amateur champions and cements his reputation as one of the most promising young talents in the game.

About the Pennsylvania Amateur Championship
Founded in 1909, the Pennsylvania Amateur Championship is one of the longest-running state amateur events in the country. Originally played as a match play event, the format changed in 1966 to a 72-hole stroke play competition to attract deeper fields and increase competitive consistency. That format continues today, hosted annually by the Pennsylvania Golf Association (PAGA).
Legends like R. Jay Sigel (11-time winner), Art Wall, Jr. (Masters champion), and Buddy Marucci (1995 U.S. Amateur runner-up) have all won the championship, helping to define the tournament’s elite status among state-level competitions.
Rotating between historic venues such as Merion Golf Club, Oakmont Country Club, Aronimink, and Huntingdon Valley CC, the championship consistently draws the top talent from across Pennsylvania and beyond.
