Course Review: Stonebridge Ranch of McKinney, Texas
- Arthur Hills Course
Stonebridge Ranch Country Club is located
north of
Dallas in
McKinney, Texas. Stretching out to over 7000
yards, it has played host to multiple events,
including
PGA
Tour Qualifying
School, US Open Local Qualifying
and
Byron
Nelson Open Qualifying.
The course features generous fairways for
the longer par 4s and tighter landing areas
for the short ones. Three of the par 5s are
reachable for big hitters, and the greens are
large and undulating. The architect, Arthur Hills,
dishes up a variety of blind tee shots and water
comes into play on about half the holes.
The back nine finishing holes are
highlighted by a reachable par 5, a driveable
par 4 and a long par-4 18th hole. Matches are
often not decided until the very end, as these
final holes have the ability to see two shot
swings in the blink of an eye.
The well-maintained facilities include a
driving
range, chipping green, and two putting
greens.
