The Club at Carlton Woods has quickly gained the reputation of one of the finest tournament venues in the state, having already hosted U.S. Open Local Qualifying in 2002 and 2003, U.S. Mid-Amateur Qualifying in 2004, the Texas State Amateur (won by Zach Atkinson) in 2004, and the 2007 USGA State Team Championship. Carlton Woods has two championship courses, the first designed by Jack Nicklaus in 2001, and a Tom Fazio course which opened in November 2005.
