Carlton Woods Invitational tees off Tuesday
Colby Harwell
THE WOODLANDS, Texas (May 4, 2014) -- The early-season flurry of national mid-amateur and senior events continues this week with the 9th annual Carlton Woods Invitational.
With the first round teeing off Tuesday, May 6, many of the top mid-amateurs in the country take aim at the prestigious title.
Defending champion Colby Harwell returns with a host of challengers.
Harwell, who knocked off Randy Lance in last year's battle, will be paired alongside Brett Snortland and Edward Sanchez in Tuesday's first round.
Recent Tower Invitational winner Mike Peck hopes to stay hot following his wire-to-wire defense of his championship last week at Miramont Country Club.
Doug Pool returns to defend his Senior Division crown from a year ago. Pool outlasted three-time champion Mike Booker in a playoff to win the first Hullender Trophy, named after legendary senior amateur Bob Hullender.
George Zahringer is also competing in the Senior Division just a few days after helping the U.S. team win the inaugural Concession Cup.
Full coverage of the event will be available on AmateurGolf.com and the event's official website: Carltonwoodsinvitational.com.
