Evans, Stow lead at Barbazon Trophy

HARTLEPOOL, England (June 26, 2014) -- Ryan Evans and Ben Stow are tied for the second round lead at 9-under 137 at the Brabazon Trophy at Seaton Carew Golf Club.
Evans posted a solid 7-under 66 on Thursday to vault up to the top of the leaderboard, while Stow shot a 5-under 66 to tie for the lead.
Daniel Young shot a second consecutive 70, and sits in solo third place at 6-under 140. Five players are tied for fourth at 141, and another five are tied for ninth at 142.
Defending champion Jordan Smith shot 75 on Thursday to drop to a tie for 48th. He is currently 10 strokes back at 1-over 147.
The tournament cut the field to the low 60 players and ties following Thursday's second round, and exactly 60 competitors finished at 147 or better.
The Barbazon Trophy serves as the English Golfing Union's Stroke Play Championship and runs 72 holes.

The Brabazon Trophy is the English Men's Open
Amateur Stroke Play Championship and is open to
male
amateur golfers of all nationalities.
The Championship is played by 72 holes of stroke
play
over four days and will be contested by 144
competitors, consisting of exempt players and those
who have progressed through qualifying. 18 holes
are
played on each of the first two days. After 36 holes
the
leading 60 competitors and all those tying for 60th
place shall play a further 18 holes on the third day,
followed by a re-draw and a final 18 holes on the
fourth
day.
