BOULDER CITY, Nev. (Dec. 13, 2014) — Max Marsico survived the wind, rain and cold in a brutal final round of the Southern Nevada Golf Association Championship to take home his first win of the year.

Marsico, a University of Pennsylvania graduate who played on the team for two years, shot a two-day total of 151 to beat the likes of Kenny Ebalo, Shane Sigsbee, and Ryan McCullough. Ebalo had the tournament all but wrapped up until a back nine 46 halted his storybook ending to a fantastic year.

With the 2014 Player of the Year already decided, Ebalo was playing just to get reps in for a big 2015 season. Also, anytime he gets to go up against the 9-time SNGA Player of the Year, Brady Exber, he is going to take full advantage. These type of players play a different kind of competitive golf. It isn’t for the gift certificates or the trophy. It is for something bigger. The idea of proving yourself against the best the game has to offer in the state of Nevada. That is what competitive golf is truly all about. Or at least it should be.

The Senior Division championship went to Kevin Parrish of Mesquite, Nevada. Parrish, who shot 156, played two rounds of steady golf and ended up winning his second championship at Cascata, the first being the 2013 Cascata Amateur. Tom Hyland finished runner-up with a 158 total.
