FORT WORTH, Texas — Playing in his fifth PGA Tour event of the year, reigning U.S. Amateur champion Gunn Yang of South Korea made his first cut, shooting 67-70 at Colonial Country Club to sit tied for 15th entering the weekend at the Crowne Plaza Invitational.

Yang's first-round 67 was wild, consisting of just seven pars. He went four-under through six, only to fall back to one-under after 14. But the former San Diego State golfer birdied 17 and 18 to be in 16th place after round one. And after an even-par 70 on Friday, Yang will see his first PGA Tour weekend — being just three shots out of the top-five.

On Saturday, Yang posted one-over 71 and fell back outside of the top-40. And on Sunday, Yang struggled to a four-over 74 and finished in a tie for 65th place.

Yang had previously played in the Farmers Insurance Open, The Masters, Arnold Palmer Invitational, and RBC Heritage. Aside from The Masters, Yang had received multiple sponsor's exemptions into professional event due to his victory in 2014 at Atlanta Athletic Club over Canadian Corey Conners.
