Michael Perras jumps into Texas South Amateur lead

SAN ANTONIO, Texas — Michael Perras, of
Pasadena, fired the low round of the day with a
6-under par 66. Perras’s two round total of 135,
9-under par, puts him atop the leader board of
the Texas South Amateur Championship heading
into the final round at La Cantera Golf Club.
Perras carded a 4-under par 32 on his first 9
holes at the Resort Course. Michael carried his
momentum to his second nine and carded a 2-
under par 34 on his way to a 6-under par 66.
Perras will begin his final round at 10:00 AM off
of hole #1.
Nick Thornton, of Boerne, carded a 1-under par
71 in his second round. Thornton is four strokes
back with a two-day total of 139. Thornton, our
co-leader after the first round, is in the final
pairing with Michael Perras and Nicholas Cristea,
of Houston. Cristea is one behind Thornton at 4-
under par 140.
John Hunter, of Houston, carded a 2 over par 74
to give him a two-day total of 142. The first
round co-leader will go off in the penultimate
group with 2015 Texas South Mid-Amateur
Champion Jay Reynolds, who is at 3-under par
141, and Colby Harwell, who sits at 1-under par
143 after two days.
The final round of the Texas South Amateur
Championship, presented by Club Champion,
begins tomorrow August 9th at 7:54 AM off both
the first and tenth tees.

Texas South Amateur
Eligibility: Entries are open to male amateur
golfers that reside in South Texas as defined
by the Texas PGA Sections (South of 31
degree parallel, Salado TX and south is break
point), with a certified USGA Handicap Index of
8.4 or less.
Format/Field Size: Play will be contested over 54
holes of Individual Stroke Play. The field is limited to
84 players.
