ADELAIDE, AUS (March 24, 2016)--Harrison Endycott (-15) has added some more hardware to his book shelf. Just a couple weeks after winning the
Riversdale Cup the 19-year-old Australian played nearly flawless golf on his way to an impressive four-stroke victory at the South Australia Amateur Classic. Endycott bogeyed just three holes, two on the final day, over the course of four rounds at the Royal Adelaide Golf Club.
Endycott carried a four-stoke advantage into the final round and he was able to maintain that lead with a closing 3-under par 69. The Australian was under-par all four days as scores of 68-69-67 served as the prequel to his final round 69. Endycott birdied 18 holes over the four days and recorded just those three bogeys.
“I just seemed to get the ball in the right position all week; I think that’s a huge key around Royal Adelaide. It’s such a testing course and it’s definitely a course where you can’t take advantage when you’re not in the right situation to do so and I managed to do that very well and trusted my game,” Endycott told Golf South Australia following his victory.
Endycott began his final round with birdies on two of his first four holes. Although he picked up his second bogey of the week on No. 7, Endycott was still able to post an opening nine 2-under par 35. On the closing nine the steady play continued with two more birdies and a bogey.
“I put a lot of hard work leading up to the summer and I’ve had a few really good results. I played really steady all week and I had a lot of trust in my game and it’s just great to be here,” Endycott added.
Finishing in second place was Mitchell Smith (-11) while Curtis Luck (-9) finished third. The next closest score was fourth place finisher Ben Ferguson at 4-under par.
