Harrison Endycott promoted to Golf Australia national squad

SOUTH MELBOURNE, AUS (March 31, 2016)--Red-hot
Sydneysider Harrison Endycott has been elevated to
the Golf Australia national squad.
Endycott, 19, won the unanimous backing of the
national coaching panel after winning last week’s South
Australian Classic at Royal Adelaide – his fourth big
victory in just two months.
The Avondale Golf Club member has impressed
many in the past couple of years, winning selection to
the New South Wales state team in 2015 and again for
the upcoming 2016 series.
But his spectacular tournament run since January
has taken his game to another level.
After losing his quarter-final of the Australian
Amateur to eventual champion Connor Syme, Endycott
won the Lake Macquarie Amateur the following week.
Two weeks later, he defended the Avondale Cup
title at his home club, then returned to Victoria and
won the national rankings event and time-honoured
Riversdale Cup before his victory in Adelaide propelled
him to No.42 in the world amateur rankings.
GA high performance director Brad James was
delighted with Endycott’s promotion, but even more so
with the work ethic he’s demonstrated to achieve his
goal.
“Harrison’s performance over the past two months
in winning four national events has been brilliant,”
James said.
“But more importantly, the dedication he has
shown with his development processes and application
to them has shown us that he’s starting to understand
what it takes to be a professional athlete.”
Endycott was thrilled with the recognition, but
vowed to keep up the hard work.
“I’ve definitely worked hard to get here and it feels
awesome to be on the team,” Endycott beamed.
“But it just makes me want to work harder to keep
improving because I can really see the improvement in
not just my results, but also that I’ve just been playing
better.”
“I’ve been wanting to be on the national team for a
long time … to wear the logo and get a chance to
represent Australia means the world to me, because
not everybody gets to do it.”
James paid special tribute to the Sydney-based
team
working with Endycott.
“The new structure and culture that has been
created
by Dean Kinney and his Golf New South Wales high
performance team will help develop more athletes
capable of achieving the national program’s goals in
years to come,” James said.
“We are thrilled with the attitude from all involved
with
the Golf NSW high performance team.”
Endycott joins eight other young athletes in the
national squad. Perth’s Hannah Green and Sydney’s
Cam Davis are in the lofty Tier 1 category, while
Endycott joins Victorians Brett Coletta and Zach Murray
in Tier 2. Becky Kay (QLD), Cameron John (VIC), Min
Woo Lee (WA) and Louis Dobbelaar (QLD) are all junior
squad members.
