BAR HARBOR, ME (September 25, 2016) -- Matt Greenleaf finished 6-over-par but that was good enough for him to claim the Maine Mid-Amateur. Greenleaf finished one-stroke in front of Scott Sirois at Kebo Valley Club after a 36th hole birdie.

Greenleaf posted back-to-back rounds of 3-over 73 during the tournament, however he won the tournament with his back nine play. For the weekend Greenleaf was 6-over on the outward nine, while his closing nine play was even-par.

Sirois finished 7-over and in second place following scores of 76-71. Through 15-holes Sirois was 4-over for the tournament but a bogey and double-bogey on the next two holes proved costly.

Four players finished 8-over and in third while first round leader Tim Desmarais fell all the way back to 11-over and a tie for 15th.

ROUND ONE RECAP

Tim Desmarais, just returning to the amateur game after serving as a PGA Professional at Cape Elizabeth's Purpoodock Club, holds the day one Maine Mid-Amateur lead. Desmarais fired a 1-over 73 in the first round at Kebo Valley Golf Club, the eighth oldest club in the nation, and he will carry a one-stroke lead into the final round.

Sitting in second place is Keith Patterson II and Curtis Jordan at 2-over. Patterson II had an up and down day with five birdies, five bogeys and a double-bogey. During the round he had a stretch of three of straight bogeys (Nos. 2-4) and three consecutive birdies (No.s 12-14).
