ADELAIDE, Australia (February 18, 2017) -- Golfweek/AmateurGolf.com No. 2 Hye-Jin Choi will begin the Australian Women's Open final round tied for 16th place. On Saturday at Royal Adelaide, Choi shot an even-par 73 that left her at 3-under and seven shots off the lead of Lizette Salas.

In the third round Choi could never really get herself going and she was forced to settle for a three birdie, three bogey day. The birdies for Choi came on Nos. 3, 8 and 17.

Tze-Han Lin also made it through to the weekend after finishing the second round right on the even- par cut line. Lin shot a third round 4-over 77 and she will begin the final round tied for 63rd at 4-over. The highlight of the day for Lin came when she birded the 4th hole.


ROUND TWO RECAP

Hye-Jin Choi turned in her second consecutive under-par round and at 3-under she has made the Australian Women's Open cut.

During round two at Royal Adelaide Choi followed up her first day 71 with a 1-under 72. Choi, tied for 31st, birdied three times and bogeyed twice on Friday. Her birdies came on the second, 11th and 17th holes.

Choi, one of seven amateurs in the field, has spent the better part of 2017 successfully playing in Australian amateur and professional events. Last week Choi finished fifth at the Victoria Open and prior to that she won the Australian Women's Amateur while also finishing runner-up at the NSW Women's Amateur.

Also making the cut this week from the amateur ranks was Tze-Han Lin with a 36-hole even-par tally. Lin has combined rounds of 73-73 so far this week and she will begin the weekend tied for 64th after making the cut on the number.

ROUND ONE RECAP

Hye-Jin Choi is 2- under after the first round of the Australian Women's Amateur and in a tie for 25th. Choi from South Korea is six-strokes off the pace being set by Katherine Kirk.

On Thursday at Royal Adelaide, Choi carded five birdies and three bogeys. Through 14 holes Choi was 1 over before rallying late in the day with 15th, 17th and 18th hole birdies.
