Davis Riley Named Amateur of the Month for September

BIRMINGHAM, AL (October 17, 2017) –
Davis Riley (Hattiesburg, MS) has been named Amateur-of-the-Month for September by the Southern Golf Association.
Riley, a 20-year-old junior at The University of Alabama, started the college season with a third-place finish at the Carpet Capital Collegiate, shooting a seven-under 209 at The Farm Golf Club in Rocky Face, GA. Riley helped Alabama pull into a tie for the team championship with tournament host Georgia Tech before ultimately falling in a playoff.
He followed it up with his first collegiate win against a loaded field, at the Olympia Fields/Fighting Illini Invitational hosted by Olympia Fields Country Club. Riley shot a 10-under 200 which was a career low. Riley is currently 34th in the Golfweek/AmateurGolf.com World Amateur Ranking, 42nd in the World Amateur Golf Ranking, and 51st in the Scratch Players World Amateur Ranking.
Winners of the Southern Golf Association monthly award are determined by a national panel of golf officials, coaches and journalists. Now in its 14th season, notable recipients have been Bill Haas, Michelle Wie, Hunter Mahan, Ryan Moore, J. B. Holmes, Webb Simpson, Rhys Davies, Kyle Stanley, Kevin Fortin-Simard, Rickie Fowler, Danny Lee, Matthew Fitzpatrick, Alice Hewson, and more recently Braden Thornberry and Cameron Champ.
