Heavy rains in Alberta, Canada reduced the 54-hole Glencoe Invitational to a 36-hole event. Perhaps the day off gave Thomas Giroux a day to recharge. After an opening 73, the Ontario native rebounded with a final-round 67 and at 5 under, won the event by two shots.

Giroux had two birdies and two bogeys over the four opening holes at Glencoe Country Club to remain even. He had back-to-back birdies at Nos. 7 and 8, then made three more birdies on the back from Nos. 13-16. His 5-under final round moved him ahead of first-round co-leaders Briggs Duce and Andrew Harrison.

Giroux will be a junior at Oakland University in the fall. He has garnered three top-10 finishes in college events.

Jesse Galvon of Calgary finished solo fourth at 1 under, followed by Etienne Papineau in fifth. Papineau is the defending champion in this event.

ABOUT THE Glencoe Invitational

The Glencoe Invitational was established in 1992 to allow for high level tournament golf to be played prior to Canada's national provincial championships. The tournament took a three year hiatus during 2012 thru 2014 to restore our Robert Trent Jones II course, The Forest, to its former glory.

The Glencoe Invitational field of players is typically made up those in the top 50 on the Golf Canada Order of Merit, Provincial Champions, Canada’s National team as well as players referred from other golf associations. A Women's Division was introduced in 2020.
