During the U.S. Amateur at Ridgewood, David Puig's presence produced many questions. He had competed in two LIV Golf events. First in the inaugural London event where he finished 40th and then in the Bedminster where he finished 42nd.

It was confounding to see his name in the list of competitors in the U.S. Amateur, and it seemed it was only a matter of time before he headed to LIV Golf full time.

That time is now.

On his Instagram, he announced he is leaving Arizona State to turn pro. While he doesn't mention LIV explicitly, he's listed in the field for the Chicago event on September 16.

Puig is currently ranked 18th in the Golfweek/AmateurGolf.com World Amateur Ranking. He won the Southwestern Invitational last year for Arizona State. He has represented Spain in team events including the World Amateur Team Championship that recently took place in Spain.

Puig is not the first heralded Spanish college golfer to turn professional and join LIV. Earlier this summer, Eugenio-Lopez-Chacarra left Oklahoma State. Chacarra has played in three events, never finishing higher than 24th place.
