The United States Golf Association announced local and final qualifying sites for the 125th U.S. Open Championship, which will be contested at Oakmont (Pa.) Country Club for a record 10th time from June 12 to 15.
Local qualifying, conducted over 18 holes at 110 sites in 43 U.S. states, Canada, and Mexico, will take place between April 16 and May 19. Those advancing players will join a group of locally exempt competitors in final qualifying, which will be conducted over 36 holes. This final stage will be held in England and Japan (May 19) and Canada (June 2), as well as 10 U.S. sites, one on May 19 and the remaining nine on June 2.

Last year, 2023 U.S. Amateur Championship runner-up Neal Shipley of Ohio State and Luke Clanton of Florida State battled for low amateur honors. Fresno State senior Joseph Lloyd (Phoenix, AZ) found the Fazio-designed Preserve to his liking, recording eight birdies on his way to a 6-under 66. Bogeys on Nos. 9 and 18 were beside the point for Lloyd; he still had a 3-shot cushion over the three players who shot 69 to also advance. Andalusia Country Club, La Quinta, Calif.
John Kim earned low amateur honors and co-medalist honors after a round of 4-under 68 with six birdies and two bogeys. Kim tied at the top of the leaderboard with Gavin Cohen and Nick Delio. The other amateur to join Kim in advancing was Alejandro Alonso, who finished T4 at 3-under. He finished strong with birdies on holes No. 13, 14, 15, and 17 to head to final qualifying. Angelo Marcon, 2024 graduate of Notre Dame, carded an unmatched round of 9-under 63 that was highlighted by two eagles. Marcon eagled the par-5 No. 4 and par-4 No. 13 and also carded six birdies and just one bogey. Mason Browning recorded six birdies and one bogey to finish T2 at 5-under. Colorado sophomore Ty Holbrook shot an impressive 8-under 64 with eight birdies and no bogeys. He started off hot and never looked back, carding consecutive birdies on holes No. 1, 2, and 3 and then later on No. 11, 12, and 13. All five qualifying spots were occupied by amateurs, with Charles Soule earning medalist and low amateur honors. Soule, a former University of Denver golfer and 2024 Colorado Mid-Amateur champion, recorded ten pars to open his round and finishing 1-under. Mesa Falleur, a junior at New Mexico, lit up his home course and carded a 7-under 65 with an eagle, six birdies and one bogey. Falleur, a transfer from Kansas City earned low amateur honors and medalist and the championship course by two shots over the field. Arth Sinha, a high school senior, shot an impressive 6-under 66 to earn medalist honors by one shot over fellow amateur and 14-year-old Matthew Marigliano. 2025 Byron Nelson award winner and Illinois standout Jackson Buchanan earned low amateur and co-medalist honors after a round of under 67. Buchanan carded a 32 on the back nine with birdies on holes No. 12, 14, 17, and 18 to get into the clubhouse at 5-under. He tied Bryce Emory and Kelly Teek at 5-under for co-medalist honors. The talent at Illinois keeps replenishing, as freshman Jake Birdwell shot an incredible 10-under 62 with a 29 on the front nine and eagles on holes No. 5 and 8. He also recorded a perfect six birdies, two eagles, and no bogeys. Jackson Herrington, a freshman at Tennessee, also played great golf, shooting 9-under 63 with nine birdies and no bogeys. Oklahoma State freshman Filip Fahlberg-Johnsson finished 6-under 66. The 6-under doesn't tell the full story, as he recorded an astonishing three eagles in his round. He eagled the par-5 No. 2, 6, and 14. He also recorded three birdies and three bogeys.
Johnsson helped Sweden capture the 2023 European Boys' Team Championship and also helped Sweden to the Bronze medal at the 2022 Toyota Junior World Cup. Full Field Results>
