Christiaan Maas, a junior at Texas, finished T4 at the Investec South African Open Championship on Sunday at Durban Country Club, finishing as the low amateur in the field and earning the Freddie Tait Trophy.

Maas carded rounds of 70-64-70 to finish 12-under and just two strokes off the individual lead. Sunday's final round was canceled due to rain and course conditions. Dylan Naidoo and Laurie Canter both finished the 54-holes at 14-under and Naidoo defeated Canter in a playoff on Sunday to earn the victory.

The South African native is currently No. 18 in the Golfweek/AmateurGolf.com World Rankings.

Maas was the only amateur in the tournament to make the 36-hole cut. He earned the Freddie Tait Cup for the second time, having previously claimed low amateur honors at the 2022 South African Open.

According to Texas Athletics, Maas is currently No. 16 in the most recent NCAA Division I individual rankings by Scoreboard, which were updated on Feb. 26. A two-time All-American at Texas, he has registered a 69.73 scoring average over the first five stroke-play tournaments for the Longhorns this season.

Maas boast two top-five and three top-10 finishes this year. Thirteen of his 15 rounds this season have been par or better, including eight rounds in the 60s.
