Pierce Wins San Antonio Mid-Amateur
John Pierce
2011 Greater San Antonio
Mid-Am Champion
SAN ANTONIO, TX (May 22, 2011) -- John Pierce's string of pars on the back-nine at the Pecan Valley Golf were good enough for a win at the 2011 Greater San Antonio Mid-Amateur Championship.
Terrence Miskell, who started the day in third place go off to a horrendous start with a double and two bogeys in the first five holes. He would right the ship quickly, however, with birdies on hole No's 8 and 9 and then again with birdies on hole no's 14 and 15.
Pierce's consistent play would hold him off by a single stroke as he made par on every hole on the back nine to force a playoff that Pierce would eventually win.
First round leader Harry Ramirez finished one shot out of the extra holes with a second round score of 75.
