Lim wins California State Open, Hoey low amateur

BEAUMONT, Calif. (July 19, 2012) -- Recent USC Grad and All-American Honorable Mention, Steve Lim, won the 2012 California State Open by one stroke over Derek Sipe of La Palma, Calif. Lim, from La Palma, Calif., carded rounds of 65-69-68-70--272 while Sipe posted 74-65-67-67--273.
Amateur Rico Hoey, fresh off a dramatic win at the Callaway Junior Worlds, fired rounds of 70-66 68--72--276 to claim low amateur honors. Hoey was in the hunt coming in, but four bogeys on the back nine derailed his effort.
ABOUT THE
The Championship will be a 72-hole stroke play
tournament contested over four days. Following the
conclusion of 36-holes, the field will be cut to the Top
60 players and ties. Championship is open to both
Professionals and Amateurs. Amateurs must carry an
index of 2.4 or below at the time of entry. Pre-
qualifying required for non-exempt players.
