Senior Cotton States: Cooper, Lipe win titles
MONROE, La. (May 16, 2014) -- Bob Cooper shot rounds of 76-72 to win by two shots at the 2014 Senior Cotton States Invitational at Bayou DeSiard Golf Club.
Cooper broke out of a pack of five players that shared the lead after Round 1, shooting the event's low round to clinch the title in the Senior Division.
Kennedy managed a closing 74 but couldn't muster the magic to topple the red-hot Cooper.
Hal Wright closed with a 72 to sneak into solo third plce while Shelby Houston (76-79), Herb Fisher (77-78) and Ford Cartwright (79-76) tied for fifth place.
In the Super Senior, Jim Lipe won in a playoff over Gerald Siemons for the title. Siemons had shot a 73 to surge to the top of the leaderboard in the final round.
Pat Vincelli, Henry Cole and Frank Brame, respectively, filled out the Top 5.
