Welcome to the 2025 Northern Amateur Championship
A Storied Tradition Since 1967
First played in 1967 and moved permanently to Sand Creek in 1983, the Northern Amateur has crowned champions who went on to PGA Tour prominence, including Howard Twitty (1970), David Ogrin (1978), Joe Ogilvie (1993), and Bo Van Pelt (1995). After a hiatus between 2002 and 2010 to promote junior golf via the Northwest Indiana Junior Golf Association (NIJGA), the event was revived in 2011 and continues to serve as a launchpad for future pros and decorated mid-ams. Winners have hailed from powerhouse collegiate programs like Oklahoma State, Indiana, Duke, and Arizona State.

Scoring and Course Conditions
Sand Creek’s championship-caliber design rewards precision and punishes hesitation, especially as winds off Lake Michigan shift throughout the day. Historically, the winning score hovers around 10-under, with 2024 champion Alec Cesare securing victory at 206 (−10). With firm greens and mild summer temperatures forecasted, players can expect prime scoring opportunities—but navigating the course's three distinct nines will still demand mental discipline and ball-striking excellence.
Looking Back to 2024—and Ahead to 2025
Last year, Alec Cesare of Indiana University edged the field by one with rounds of 66-69-71. Andrew Tan made headlines with a final-round 64, while Will Harvey and Jack Morris tied for third at −8. Cesare returns as the defending champion, but he'll face stiff competition from rising collegiate talents and hungry mid-ams. With several players from last year’s top 10 returning and new challengers from Texas, California, and Florida in the mix, the 2025 edition promises one of the strongest fields in recent memory.
