Duke commit Adam Wood wins Northern Amateur
CHESTERTON, Ind. (July 25, 2014) -- Duke commit Adam Wood shot a closing 6-under 66 to steal the title from Nick Grubinich at the Northern Amateur.
Starting the day four shots back, Wood, who hails from Zionsville, Ind. carded the low round of the day to move from a tie for sixth place to the top of the leaderboard.
Grubinich managed a second-place finish after his second straight even-par 72. In Round 1, the rising Indiana University star shot 67 to take the lead and he shared it with Henry Do entering the final round.
Do couldn't follow up his second-round 65, instead stumbling to a closing 77 and finished seventh.
Kyle Mueller took solo third, finishing three off of Wood's pace and two better than Andre Tourinho and Michael VanDeventer, who tied for fourth place.
