Edward Richardson shoots 67 to lead St. Augustine Amateur

ST. AUGUSTINE, Florida (Oct. 10, 2014) —
Edward Richardson posted a three-under
par 67
in the opening-round of the St. Augustine
Amateur, being held at St. Johns Golf Club.
Richardson is one of four players under-par
and
leads the talented field by two shots.
Richardson's round included a bogey-free 32
on
the first nine and an even-par backside
where he
bogeyed both par-threes but made fours on
each
of the two par-fives.
In a three-way tie for second place are
William
Gordon, Brandon Mancheno, and Joseph
Winslow.
Four more players are tied for fifth at even-
par
after rounds of 70 to open the event.

John "Jay" Jennison III passed away
before his time. His vision for the
tournament,
which
he authored in 2004, lives on at St. John's
County
Golf Club:
“The best expression of the game lies in
high level amateur competitions and the
fellowship
and sportsmanship attendant at such
events. It
is
our vision to conduct an event which
provides
this
experience for players, sponsors,
volunteers,
and all
who come in contact with the St. Augustine
Amateur.”

ABOUT THE
St. Augustine Amateur
54 hole stroke play event for better
amateurs
and collegiate players. The field will be
limited
to 84 players, with no cut. The tournament
is
open to Amateurs only whose entry has been
accepted by the Tournament Committee
however there is an open qualifier several
weeks prior to the event - contact the
Tournament Committee or visit the website
for
details.
Unless prior arrangements are made with
the
approval of the Committee, competitors
must
walk during the competition.
