St. Augustine Amateur: 46-year-old Edward Richardson prevails
ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. (Oct. 12, 2014) — 46-year-old Edward Richardson, in a St. Augustine Amateur stacked with young collegiate and even junior talent, captured a one-stroke victory at St. Johns Golf Club after a final-round 68 pushed him into the lead on the final day.

Richardson, an Englishman living in Florida, held the opening-round lead after a three-under par 67, but then lost the lead by himself when three other players joined him heading into Sunday's finale.

Richardson posted three-under par 207 (67-72-68) while 2015 Vanderbilt University commit William Gordon placed second. The Davidson, N.C. native shot rounds of 69, 71, and 68 to finish in the runner-up position.

Andrew Gain, a former golfer at St. Peter's University, used a final-round 65 — the lowest round of the 54-hole event — to push himself into solo third place, just two shots back of the winner. He shot 74-70 on Friday and Saturday and trailed the four co-leaders by five shots before his five-under par gem on Sunday.

Two of the four second-round co-leaders finished in a tie for fourth place, including Ryan Borg and Brandon Mancheno. Both players shot 71 on Sunday to finish at even-par 210. Borg is Canadian-born and a sophomore at the University of South Florida while Mancheno, from Jacksonville, is just 15-years-old.

Samuel Uhland, also from Jacksonville, rounds out the top-five. The 18-year-old who will play collegiately for Jacksonville University posted consecutive 69's on the weekend after a two-over 72 on Friday.
