Three tied for the lead as South Carolina starts hot at SEC Women's Championships

The South Carolina Gamecocks are off to a hot start at the 2025 SEC Women's Championships at Pelican Golf Club in Belleair, Fla., shooting a first-round 14-under 266 as a team and taking a nine-shot lead into the second round.
The Gamecocks were led by freshman Eila Galitsky and Hannah Darling, who are both tied for first with Anna Davis of Auburn.
The talented trio shot rounds of 5-under 65.
In the team competition, The Gamecocks lead by nine shots over LSU, who is in solo second place at 5-under. Auburn is in solo third place at 4-under, and Ole Miss and Texas are T4 at 1-under. South Carolina broke the program's 18-hole team scoring record by six shots.
While Galitsky, Darling, and Davis lead the individual competition, Rocio Tejedo of LSU and Carys Worby of Auburn are just one shot back at 4-under and T4 to round out the top five.

Pelican Golf Club is hosting the championship for the second straight year.
Teams will play 54 holes of stroke play the first three days to crown an individual SEC Champion, with the top eight teams advancing to the match play quarterfinals on Thursday morning.
According to South Carolina Athletics, The Gamecocks have made match play in all six years of the new format, dating back to 2018, with a pair of title match appearances.
Last season, South Carolina earned the No. 1 seed for match play after shooting 3-under in the stroke play portion
The Gamecocks were the only team in the field under par in stroke play led by senior All-American Louise Rydqvist, who finished as runner-up medalist thanks to a 54-hole total of 7-under. Senior All-American Hannah Darling shot 2-under to finish T6.
Both players were First-Team All-SEC selections last season.
