Men’s Division: Braidech Leads After 36, with International Chase Pack in Pursuit
Camden Braidech, the hometown standout from Scottsdale, posted a second-straight 68 on Friday to take the solo lead at 9-under 135 through two rounds. A past runner-up at the Arizona Amateur on this very course, Braidech looked sharp again on the Outlaw layout—hitting fairways, controlling wedges, and walking in putts with growing confidence.
Right behind him is Kentaro Nanayama of Indonesia at 136 (-8), carding back-to-back 68s in a quiet but precise showing. Nanayama has yet to make a double bogey this week and sits near the top in greens in regulation.
A four-way tie at 137 (-7) features a mix of styles and backstories: Luke Cushman (Colombia) has gone 69–68 with consistent putting; Johnnie Clark (Mesa, AZ) made a huge leap with a tournament-low 66 on Friday; and both Parker Paxton and Tyler Spielman shot rounds of 66 and 64 respectively, each bouncing back big after slower starts on Thursday.
Storylines to Watch:
- Clark’s Climb: 71–66 moves him from outside the top 15 to tied for third.
- Spielman’s Bounce Back: From 74 to 64 in 24 hours—tied for low round of the tournament.
- The Cut: Was projected around +2, with tight bunching from T10 through T40.
