Wyndham Invitational Round 2 Recap Brown Holds One-Shot Lead Heading Into Final Round at Wyndham Invitational
The Wyndham Invitational presented by Odyssey returns to Sedgefield Country Club for the 24th playing of one of the AJGA’s premier boys-only invitationals. Held June 10–13, the 54-hole stroke play event will feature 72 of the top junior golfers from across the globe competing on the same Donald Ross-designed layout that hosts the PGA TOUR’s Wyndham Championship.

Round Two Recap
Blake Brown of Cypress, Texas, remains atop the leaderboard after 36 holes at the Wyndham Invitational presented by Odyssey, following a second-round 68 to reach 7-under 133 overall. Brown tallied four birdies and two bogeys in Round 2 to preserve a one-stroke lead heading into the final round at Sedgefield Country Club.
Hot on his heels are Giuseppe Puebla and Willie Gordon at 6-under 134. Puebla surged into contention with a 66, highlighted by five birdies, an eagle, and three bogeys. Gordon posted the round of the tournament so far—a sizzling 64 that included eight birdies and two bogeys—vaulting up 16 spots on the leaderboard.
Jessy Huebner continued his consistent play, notching four birdies and a lone bogey for a 67 that moved him to 5-under, tied for fourth with Cole Stockard, Connor Herrera, and Kuan Zhou. Stockard fired a 65 thanks to five birdies, an eagle, and two bogeys to make one of the day’s biggest leaderboard climbs.
Defending champion Asher Vargas bounced back from an opening-round 71 with a steadier 70 on Tuesday, carding three birdies and three bogeys to sit at 1-over-par (T23) heading into the final round. Round 1 co-runner-up Preston Hage struggled with five bogeys against four birdies en route to a 71 and sits at 3-under.

Returning Champion Leads Elite Field
Asher Vargas of Spring, Texas, returns to defend his title after going wire-to-wire in 2024 to earn his first career AJGA Invitational win. Ranked No. 4 in the Rolex AJGA Rankings and a University of North Carolina commit, Vargas is coming off a breakout year that saw him earn Rolex Junior All-American honors.

Sedgefield: A Proven Test of Champions
Sedgefield Country Club, playing at 6,982 yards and par 70, has hosted this event 17 times, including the last 12 consecutive years. Its classic Ross layout tests all aspects of a player’s game, and the event is a launchpad for future stars. 49 PGA TOUR winners have teed it up here in their junior days, including Justin Thomas, Brian Harman, and Peter Uihlein.
